Media notes.
Seagull sounds at the start - suggests he’s by the ocean.
Establishing shots of the opening shots to set the scene.
Shot of Oliver facing the sea on his own creates the idea of him being alone.
Shrine of Oliver Tate who passed away, very colourful to suggest the character of Oliver.
Oliver is in full black clothes and so are all the other students. Although Jordanna is in a red coat highlighting her to others. Red symbolises love and Jordanna is who he loves.
Scene opens up bright in the woods as all the teenagers have fun playing together.
Upon doing something bad to Zoey he uses the word flagitious which means:
Scene with Oliver lying on the floor in his room, shows loneliness. The room is like by a light in the back of the room.
Writes to Zoey and therefore shows that he cares about her even though it’s technically his fault she isn’t at school.
Later Jordanna is no longer wearing the red coat and therefore shows the change in his interest towards her/her attitude towards her instead.
Next she has the red coat on again probably because she kissed him and took photos of it.
Jump but of Oliver on the floor bleeding with a camera looking down on him and Jordanna making them both seem inferior and weak.
Oliver’ mum is depressed that she was unable to get a career in acting.
Uses montages about parents with an old camera to make it feel more authentic.
There is repetition of the idea of evolution, Oliver looks in the dictionary about evolution. Then soon after we see a theme park with the title of 'evolution' soon after.
