Audience Research on Horror Movies - P2.

British horror films: 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, The Omen, Hellraiser, Alien, Shaun Of the Dead, The Wicker Man, Sinister, The Shining, The Descent, Underworld, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Woman in Black, Kill List, etc.

Psychological horror films: The Sixth Sense, The Cell, Blair Witch, It Follows, The Grudge, The Exorcist, Psycho, The Ring, Saw, The Woman in Black, The Shining, etc.

The target audience for a horror, and for our film, are people who are interested in the thrill from the adrenaline rush from the fear that is given from these movies. A common age demographic for psychological horrors would be: Teenagers and young adults, from the range of 15-30 year olds. Although this doesn’t mean that older and younger people cannot enjoy them too. This genre/sub-genre appeals to both genders, as they aren’t aimed at a specific gender, it focuses more on letting the audience to experiment with their fears and emotions. Although some of the more recent movies have featured a large number of female protagonists so some movies could be focusing on a target audience of females.
